Tower

I frequently think about the lonesome house on the corner. In the daytime, it is barely visible from my perch. It’s more noticeable in the evening because it’s a dark pit in an otherwise lit up street. It has been abandoned for quite some time now.

The brush has concealed the path to the front door. The brittle, drought ridden weeds knock against each other, creating a hissing sound that is somniferous for me. It sleeps, waiting for the sky to close up and rain.

I pulled The Tower tarot card yesterday, and it was reversed. Because it faced me upside down, I could make out more of the details I had never noticed before.

The Tower tarot card depicts a high spire nestled on top of the mountain. A lightning bolt strikes the tower which sets it ablaze. Flames are bursting in the windows and people are jumping out of the windows as an act of desperation.  They want to escape the turmoil and destruction within.

The destruction of the tower must happen in order to clear out the old ways and welcome something new. Its revelations can come in a flash of truth or inspiration. The Tower advises one to allow what they don't need to crumble away. The changes one is experiencing will only feel traumatic if they resist them. The sun is peeking through the clouds again, and hindsight will reveal the necessity of the storm’s passing.
